I notice this item got 2 very poor reviews. I also bought mine marked down. However, I think it is well worth the money. Especially for melting chocolate which is so unforgiving. I never worry about scorching and breaking because of steam. As for how it holds up. I am extremely careful with all my cooking equipment. Mine is still in perfect condition.

I bought this for far cheaper than it’s offered here, and I don’t think it was worth the money. It’s an innovative idea for a double boiler, but the craftsmanship is fairly shoddy – after a few uses it sprung a leak in the handle and was therefore useless (especially on an electric range).
Better off buying a traditional double boiler, or getting some silicone…

My double boiler fell less than 4″ onto my kitchen floor and the handle broke off. I had never used it. That’s $50 down the drain.
